This links to maschinenbau's build. Is wayslow doing the other free europa?
Getting car parts for free seems like a dream come true, but when it comes to a particular Lotus Europa body, it’s the starting point for yet another build thread.
As far back as 2009, the now legendary (if you can call it that) “Free Europa” has been traded back and forth between many of our users and readers, each with builds of varying success.
This time around, it’s serving as forum user maschinenbau's $2000 Challenge entry using a power source straight out of Lotus’s own handbook, a Toyota V6.
The best part? That V6 comes from the “Roll-Ovalon,” one of maschinenbau's previous entries.
Follow the build thread here, and get more information about the $2000 Challenge–including how to enter your own low-buck build–at 2000challenge.com.
In reply to Indy "Nub" Guy :
I'm just trying to figure out why wayslow is mentioned in the article. Hopefully there's another Europa.
I want to officially put my name on any "Free Loti" list. I want to fail to complete one of these projects also!

Oh hell yes. You are my new Challenge rival. I'm targeting 2022 rough runner, 2023 victor.
That article needs some fact checking.
It's not Wayslow's project, and the Rollavalon was not my 2020 Challenge entry.
It's a pretty good story if y'all can get it right. Give credit where credit is due.
Wow. That poor Elite has had a rough life since it left my yard.
Note on the Elite... it is a front engine rwd layout that can swallow an engine of nearly any size, but the body is enormously heavy for a fiberglass body. It had to pass crash standards in 1974, and they made it really thick.
I was able to crawl under the Europa and lift the entire body by myself turtle style on my back. 4 of us struggled terribly trying to load the body of the Elite on a trailer.
Travis starts with a weight advantage!
