What will the new WEC and IMSA LMDh entry for Genesis look like? Like this. The company revealed its design in Dubai that Genesis Magma Racing will use for its two entries in WEC in 2026.
“This entry into motorsport is a natural evolution for Genesis,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer of Genesis, in a press release. “As we look to push the boundaries of our brand, motorsport allows us to bring the spirit of hyperspeed—which drives how we create and innovate—in a way that aligns perfectly with our core values: Audacious, Progressive, and Distinctly Korean.”
In addition to the design and the team’s name, Genesis also unveiled two of its drivers: André Lotterer and Pipo Derani. Lotterer has three 24 Hours of Le Mans wins with Audi (2011, 2012, 2014) and two WEC championships (2012 with Audi, 2024 with Porsche). Derani is a 24 Hours of Daytona winner (2016) and four-time 12 Hours of Sebring victor (2016, 2018, 2019, 2023). They will take the lead in developing the new car.
“After winning the FIA Hypercar World Endurance Drivers’ Championship this year, this opportunity is the perfect fit for me to channel my work, experience, passion and motivation into a new project with a team of highly ambitious individuals,” said Lotterer in a press release. “I am excited to start working on this project and build a successful future from the very beginning.”
Oreca will provide chassis support, as it does for the Acura and Alpine LMDh entries. Hyundai Motorsport will play a pivotal role, of course, too. Hyundai Motorsport is fresh from winning the WRC and TCR World Tour championships. Hyundai Motorsport President Cyril Abiteboul will serve as Team Principal for Genesis Magma Racing.
“As the backbone of Hyundai Motor Group’s global motorsport activities, Hyundai Motorsport will play a vital role in this latest ambitious program,” said Abiteboul in a press release. “We are elevating our circuit racing expertise to a whole new level as we prepare to compete in some of the world’s most challenging series.”
Prior to debuting in WEC, Genesis Magma Racing will collaborate with IDEC Sport to field a LMP2 entry in the European Le Mans Series next year. The driver lineup includes Logan Sargeant (former F1 driver), Jamie Chadwick (W Series champion), and Mathys Jaubert.

So that's where Derani landed. I've been looking online from time to time to find out. Along with Lotterer, Genesis has two quick and experienced drivers. It'll be interesting to see this project develop.
Last year at the Nurburgring 24 my Hyundai buddy asked me "So what would you do if you were Hyundai and wanted to increase your motorsport recognition?" and my answer was "Genesis GTP."
So, uh, you're welcome I guess.

I KNEW a multi-national conglomerate wouldn't green light such an undertaking without first asking for GRM input about the endeavor. I just knew it in my bones. Thanks for the official confirmation. This is gonna go viral.

And somehow got the whole thing done inside seven months. That's efficiency, baby!

I know, right?
Be sure to update that "ultimate guide to track car lap times" when they bring it to the FIRM for you to show Lotterer and Derani the fast way around the track. They've probably never been there so just be patient with 'em.
And I'm expecting Andy to do a full tire test and post an article and video, too, because there may be some new 200tw rubber for that car that we need to know about before it's autocrossed.

I'm hoping it'll be painted bright orange like previous "Magma" branded Genesis concepts/models:
