The Formula SAE team from Illinois Institute of Technology is camped out behind the Subaru booth with their all-electric, all-wheel-drive Formula car. They claim it makes 1000 lb.-ft. of torque.

Chevy's smaller trucks are returning. This Colorado promises a manual transmission, and soon, a diesel option. It should be great to tow a small race car: capacity will be at minimum 6700 pounds. (photo by Eric Rood)

This Lexus RC on display had some of the wildest headlights we noticed.

Cadillac's El Miraj concept (Spanish for "The Miraj," we're pretty sure) is beautiful, retro, and has maybe the longest doors in the world.

Volvo is loving on the wagon. They had several of these V60 Polestar editions in their display, with all-wheel-drive and a turbo inline six engine.

SRT, the Chrysler group's performance brand, brought their TUSC Viper GTLM race car, still filthy from its race at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The new Camaro ZL-1 has a supercharged V8 and will be absurdly powerful...

...but its center console looks like a handheld video game we had in the '90s.

We love the new Jaguar F-type convertible, but the coupe just doesn't have the right proportions from the side. This is not your grandfather's XKE (though that's not all bad).

Mercedes G-class wagon: It has side pipes.

Hyundai's newest zombie-crushing car is their Veloster, but on The Walking Dead, the characters still drive a teal Santa Fe.

Mustang SVO lovers rejoice: A turbochaged, 2.3-liter 4-pot engine will return to Mustang engine bays soon.

Another filthy race machine: Ford's aluminum-chassis 2015 F-150. It's been disguised as a 2014 model so the team could race it at the Baja 1000. It survived to the end, which is quite the accomplishment in that event.

Racing simulators were at seemingly every booth, but Ford also had something else: Pinball.

Over at Toyota, an 8000-horsepower funny car engine is open for everyone to ogle.

We're not fond of the looks of the Toyota FT-1 from the front—it has something of a proboscis—but it's beautiful from the sides and rear. Next Supra, anyone?

A side by side example of good proportions and bad proportions: the Fiat 500 Abarth versus the Fiat 500L.

We've driven this car at a recent press event, so look for a full review in the magazine. Minis are always fun, but the bigger grille we're seeing reminds us of a certain Hyundai.

The Chicago Auto Show is home turf for our Online Editor Alan Cesar. He made an excuse to visit family in northern Illinois, and while there, checked out the goods on display at the Chicago Auto Show. Flip through the photo gallery above to see the best
