In 1949, a would-be teacher turned salesman (first for steel, then lumber) met the founder of a small motorcycle manufacturer. The two quickly developed a working partnership, with the founder focusing on product design, technology development and manufacturing operations, while the salesman handled sales, finance and marketing.
Twenty-five years after that October meeting–and the growth of that motorcycle manufacturer into a globally recognized car company–the two retired in 1973.

That salesman, Takeo Fujisawa, co-founder of Honda Motor Company, is set to be inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn, Michigan, on July 20 during a ceremony at The Fillmore Detroit.
Fujisawa will join Soichiro Honda, who was inducted into the hall of fame in 1989, the first Japanese automotive executive to receive the honor.
