After first holding endurance race events on the West Coast–Top Dog and CEO Cathy McCause Fuss confesses that she doesn’t want to step on any other sanctioning body’s toes–the Lucky Dog Racing League is heading to the Southeast in 2022. A series of three events will visit Atlanta Motorsports Park and Carolina Motorsports Park.

Cars:

All entries must be mass produced, and–for the most part–Lucky Dog is limiting the year of manufacture to 2006 or earlier. Two groups of cars can be newer than that: B Spec compacts and Miatas built through 2015. Every car has to run on Hankook Ventus RS4 tires.

Classing:

Cars are assigned to one of three classes based on performance during qualifying sessions. A fourth group, the Super Dog class, exists for cars that don’t meet eligibility rules.

Entry Fee:

While a minimum number of drivers per entry are required–two for races up to 12 hours and three for the 24-hour contests–additional drivers don’t need to pay additional fees. Expect each team to pay $1200, which covers entry for all drivers, crewmembers and friends–but watch for early bird discounts. Lucky Dog also doesn’t require membership or license fees.

Philanthropy:

Each event raises money for a charity and, in keeping with the Lucky Dog theme, it’s usually a local humane society.

I ran with Lucky Dog at Inde in Wilcox, had a great time. Very fun event, well run and the people behind Lucky Dog really seem to have a passion for putting on a fun, amateur endurance event.

Hope to do a few more races with them next year.

Ran CMP this spring with LDR in a TR8. Very happy overall. I love how they let it be a catch all for cars. Felt like as long as you meat their safety rules, then come on in. Coming from Lemons it's a bit more of the pointy end of the stick, but that's fine with me. A few rule differences were odd for me, like having people in the pits, but overall very seamless transition for me.

The only thing weird to me was all the trophies. It was a two day race and, being South Carolina, an hour long break on Sunday morning. LDR made that 3 separate races, each of which had 3 classes, each of which had 3 places. 27 trophies.

We love Lucky Dog Racing League, Cathy is awesome.

We run three or four races a year with them when we can get across the border (GRRR!)

Come say hi to the Flying Lumberjacks in the #5 VW Fox Wagon.

I haven't raced with them yet, but I'm looking forward to it.  $1200 is very fair for getting the whole crew in.

We run with LDRC in Ontario Canada, awesome group and well run events.

Started up with chumpcar but much prefer the minimal ruleset and no cheaty cars.

We're hoping for a northeast tour at some point
