How to run a nine second quarter mile, start with a wheelbarrow of cash, and a car that will require another wheelbarrow of cash
Ask a room full of people how to build a 9-second street car, and you’ll get a room full of different answers.
Ask 034 Motorsport how, and they’ll point to one of its latest creations, a 2013 Audi S4 powered by a twin-turbo V8 from an Audi S6.
In stock form, the S6 is good for more than 400 horsepower, an increase of about 80 horses compared to the roughly 320 horsepower of the S4. But 034 isn’t after stock numbers, though, with the end goal to have over 700 horsepower on tap–and capable of that 9-second quarter-mile, of course–while also acting as a ride-along car at road course events.
Facilitating that power transfer to ground? The stock seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission from the S4, helped by virtually the entire 034 Motorsport catalog of suspension and drivetrain components.
We got a good look at the car during a recent visit to 034 Motorsport’s headquarters, but we’ll be back to test it once the Audi is fully sorted.
