If you're looking for track time and supporting a good cause, consider Carolyn’s Race HPDE, which Racing for ALS puts on. It takes place June 13-14 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

Racing for ALS names its events after members of our community who are either fighting their own battle with ALS, or have unfortunately lost their fight,” Rob Wilmoth, Racing for ALS Director of On-Track Operations says. “Carolyn, unfortunately, has lost her battle–so we race on in her memory.”

Rob adds that the events are run like traditional HPDEs, but with one key difference.

We operate multiple advanced groups, with open passing–point by preferred–based on average lap time,” says Rob. “For this event, it is a two-day HPDE at Road Atlanta, and we will be the only group on track for those two days. Drivers can expect around 2.5 hours of track time per day, for an entry fee of $650. Single-day options are also available.”

That’s roughly $130 per hour, for those with a calculator not nearby. However, while the track time is nice, don’t forget the reason behind this event.

Our goal is to raise funding and awareness for ALS research via motorsports,” Rob reminds you. “Carolyn’s Race is unique because of its proximity to Atlanta, and many of the ALS-focused neurological clinics that [are nearby]. It’s our goal for this event to raise $100,000 or more. All driver entry fees for the majority of our events are tax-deductible donations. We do not hold any funding back to operate the cars, so [every] dollar donated goes directly to the patients and research organizations that need it most.”
