Turning a potent street car into a lethal track weapon? That’s what Robert Wilmoth seems to have done with the 2018 Audi RS3 he’s entered into the 2023 Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge Presented by Grassroots Motorsports.
Robert took the car’s turbocharged, 2.5-liter inline 5 and bolted on various go-fast parts like a cold air intake, aftermarket intercooler, high-flow cat, port injectors and a custom DS1 tune from Dyno Spectrum.
The most challenging part of preparing the RS3 for this year’s UTCC? According to Robert it was the “complete suspension refresh” that now includes custom 529 Innovations coil-overs, Ground Control front camber plates, Whiteline roll center kit, Nexus rear sway bar and much more.
Sure, Robert says the Audi’s greatest strength is its corner exit speed, thanks to its all-wheel-drive system, but will that make it faster than the rest of competition overall? There’s only one place to find out, and it’s at the 2023 Ultimate Track Car Challenge, set for October 12-15 at NCM Motorsports Park.
What is the Ultimate Track Car Challenge? It’s our annual no-holds-barred track competition that simply seeks the fastest machines on four wheels. The rules are brief: Car and driver must pass a safety inspection. Period.
Pretty much everything is welcome: new, old, factory-bought and home-built. Wings are cool. So are box flares, giant intercoolers and sequential shifters.

I just have an Audi S3 of the same generation, a 2017 that still has the 6 speed dct. It's great fun on the track for me even with very mild mods. Only car that I've owned so far that I've been totally satisfied with. I'd have a hard time parting with this car, been thinking if I ever do maybe i'd do something like this with it.
