Connecticut's Lime Rock Park is set to host the Lime Rock Park Epic, a long-distance cycling event that will see participants ride through the scenic area in and around the storied race track.

Set for October 8, the event offers three different routes of increasing difficulty–the 18-mile “Express” route, the 53-mile “Explorer” route the 68-mile “Epic” route–all of which feature various elevation changes and sections of unpaved roads.

Both the Epic and Explorer routes will feature enduro-style timing, with podium places based on cumulative times across multiple route segments.

All entrants receive several perks including free parking, pre-ride mechanical support, access to fully stocked rest stops, a post-ride meal and even a souvenir pint glass.

Entry starts at $79 for the Express route, or $89 for the Explorer and Epic routes.

This looks like it could be a lot of fun, if I wasn't already traveling at that time I would be tempted to try and go for this.

I would totally do the Express route. Not in good enough shape anymore for a half century. I enjoy my gravel bike a lot.

Confession: When I hear "fully stocked rest stops" I immediately figure it is merely a point to point snack binge tour and I stop caring about how long it takes to finish

I've always thought that they should do a Sunday morning 5k run around the track since they can't race cars there on Sundays.

5k is just a little more that two laps of the track.

Plenty of parking, room to set up food trucks and swag tents, etc...

I'd sign up for that.

I've done two 5ks at Lime Rock Park. It was a few years ago, and like you said, it was just over two laps of the track. They also did a half marathon at the same time. That race started and finished with a full lap of the track. I'm not sure if they still do them. There was pretty low attendance both years that I ran.

They've done a cycling road race on the track for a couple years now.

... as long as you get to each stop before the snacks are gone.
