Powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 rated at 682 horsepower and 653 lb.-ft. of torque, the hottest version of the Escalade can hit 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds–all in a vehicle that weighs over 6200 pounds and can carry your kids, your kids’ friends and all the stuff that comes with them.
Perhaps not surprisingly, fuel economy is rated at 11 mpg in the city and 16 mpg on the highway, for a combined 13 mpg. (Of course, that’s assuming you won’t pin the throttle at every available opportunity to hear boosted V8 noises.)
On the other hand, the V-Series Escalade is capable of towing up to 7000 pounds.
MSRP? You’re going to want to sit down for this one: $154,290. For comparison, that’s enough to buy a C8 Corvette Z06–assuming you buy one at or near its MSRP of $111,795–and still have some $40,000 left over.

I need to cover about 250 miles this weekend. Mostly highway.
Do I take this (in the name of science, of course) or the GTI?
EPA says that the Escalade V gets 13 mpg combined.
Average mpg according to the Escalade at delivery? Like 13.1.
The GTI gets like high-30s.
So, which to load up for the trip?

I had it open anyway, so I figured I'd compare this against my truck and my loaner truck.
Yeah, uh, wow.
If going all the way, how about a Suburban-based Escalade XL? Or do things get ridiculous at that point?
Can you hear the blower whine or does the Cadillac-ness isolate you from the good noises?
