What do NASA’s Spec E30 and the SCCA San Francisco Region Spec Miata have in common? Besides being spec racing series, both have named Maxxis as a tire supplier–specifically, they'll be using the brand's Victra RC-1.

Spec E30 recently announced a three-year deal with Maxxis that would make the RC-1 the official tire of the series. Those competing in Spec E30 will be allowed to run on RC-1s starting March 1, with all racers required to be running the tire by May 1.

SCCA Spec Miata racers in the San Francisco Region voted to allow the RC-1 for the 2022 season alongside the Toyo tires currently used. Usage of the RC-1 is allowed starting with the season kickoff February 26-27.
