Mid Ohio is getting one as well- last time it was done was in the early 2000s, I think. That surface is like ice when it's damp. Should be a lot faster, and the racing should be totally different next season.

After 16 seasons of wear and tear on the surface of New Jersey Motorsports Park's Thunderbolt Circuit, it’s time for a repave. That project began yesterday, October 10, and consists of more than just new asphalt and concrete.
In addition to the fresh pavement, NJMP said it will renovate portions of curbing and alter the profile of Turn 1 “slightly with the apex curbing placed further inside, taking advantage of the unused space and pavement at that point of the turn.”
ETA for completion? NJMP said normal racing operations will resume on the Thunderbolt Circuit in March 2024.
However, that’s just phase 1. Yes, there’s more.
Phase 2 will add two alternative course configurations within the Thunderbolt Circuit. Those additions will be completed after the 2024 season concludes.
Furthermore, if you’ve made memories at the Thunderbolt Circuit, NJMP will be offering display souvenirs with millings from the original surface in the near future.
