If anyone knows the importance of making lemonade out the lemons life gives you, it’s the 24 Hours of Lemons.

After the usual March slot for its race at Sonoma was sold to another bidder, the 24 Hours of Lemons decided to move its low-buck racing efforts to Thunderhill Raceway, February 18-19, 2023.

For one time only (and to add some panache, we’re told), the 24 Hours of Lemons will be running multiple track layouts and directions:

  • Saturday, Feb 18: Thunderhill 5-Mile, Reverse Direction
  • Sunday, Feb 19 (8am-noon): Classic Thunderhill 3-Mile, Reverse Direction
  • Sunday, Feb 19 (noon-4pm): Classic Thunderhill 3-Mile, Classic Direction

Not much worse than losing a venue after plans have been made. Been there, done that, know the scramble all to well.

Laguna  Seca is being re-paved  and upgraded , so there is a shortage of  race weekends until that is  finished in Northern California

Yeah, they're repaving Laguna Seca so it's closed for the next six months.  That's thrown a lot of chaos into the usual track planning for 2023 because everyone is trying to schedule their events at the two remaining local tracks.

I also have to think that new Thunderhill Track Manager Matt Busby (formerly of NCM), may have had a hand in this as well. Matt's a good guy and always down to clown with fun formats and giving racers something different. More track managers should take that initiative.
