When was the last time you saw a Toyota Tercel? (Let alone one used as a rally car?)

The roar of engines, the spray of gravel, cars leaping through the air. This summer's Rally Colorado delivered adrenaline-fueled excitement. How do we know? We have the pictures to prove it.
The Colorado weather turned up the heat as teams navigated the 116-mile, 12-stage course through desert and dusty trails. The event started with a parc exposé outside the Rangely Automotive Museum, followed by a lively parade featuring all 22 rally cars cruising down Main Street.
Held July 20-21, Rally Colorado, presented by Flatirons Subaru, hosted 22 teams competing in the American Rally Association West Regional Championship. The highlight reel included rolled vehicles, disconnecting steering wheels and cars learning to fly. Driver Jacob Despain and co-driver Michael Despain secured overall and NA4WD class wins in their 2001 Subaru Impreza RS (pictured in the lead photo). Photos taken by Rupert Berrington capture the fast-paced action of each stage.
Driver Chris O'Driscoll and co-driver Lori O'Driscoll, winners of the L4WD class, in their 2003 Subaru WRX.
Steven and Lauren Olona, champions of the O2WD category and snatching the runner-up spot in their trusty 1985 Toyota Tercel.
Driver Evan Yonkers and co-driver Nicholas Leas secured third overall in their 2000 Subaru Impreza L.
In their 2015 Scion FR-S, Driver Chris Miller and co-driver Michelle Miller became L2WD class winners.
Sean Dorrough and Andrea Lauria cruising in their 1997 WRX before the steering wheel disconnected in Dorrough's grip, forcing the team to retire for day two.
Another reminder that some cool motorsports events can be/are held in the litigious United States.
Hopefully the Appalachian states (as reported by GRM) will continue to move forward in their quest to bring more events to the public.

...and win their class and finish second overall! Rally Colorado is not a horsepower course except for maybe one and a half stages. It is technical with Douglas Creek considered one of the toughest stages in North America.

Exactly. Love the variety out there–a staple of rally going way, way back.
