Seen Any Unicorns Lately? | Let’s See Some Pics

Merriam-Webster defines a unicorn as

  1. A: a mythical, usually white animal generally depicted with the body and head of a horse with long flowing mane and tail and a single often spiraled horn in the middle of the forehead
B: an animal mentioned in the Bible that is usually considered an aurochs, a one-horned rhinoceros, or an antelope
  2. Something unusual, rare or unique

That means that our forum's 104-page Unicorn sighting thread either contains what might be the largest collection of images of the imaginary horned horse, or a six-year recording of the cool and unusual cars that you, our readers, have spotted out and about.

It all started with forum user HappyAndy asking a simple question all the way back in 2014: “What rare, odd or unusual cars have you spotted out in the wild recently?” And, just like that, the thread took off. It's still going strong.

The only criteria for entries on the thread? The unicorns must be spotted out on the road or even the race track, “living as actual cars.”

In order to celebrate this unique and long-lived thread, here are our 10 favorites, in no particular order:

  • Lamborghini LM002 spotted by Adrian_Thompson

  • Right-hand drive Toyota Camry Lumiere spotted by mazdeuce

  • Hyundai Pony spotted by BMWGeoff

  • GMC Syclone spotted by Dave

  • Alfa Romeo 4C spotted by yupididit

  • Lexus LF-A spotted by DuctTape&Bondo

  • Honda Z600 spotted by crankwalk

  • Porsche 911 GT3 RS spotted by chandler

  • Vignale spotted by Slippery

  • Lada 1300 spotted by Rons

Have you seen a cool or unusual car recently? Snap a picture (safely) and add it to the thread because, who knows, we might be able to get it all the way to 200 pages some day.

saw this filling up while I was getting smog check for the wife.

this local smog check sees pretty cool cars... their yelp page has Leno stopping here frequently

of course being at the base of Angeles crest with all the magazine test cars and Matt Farah here weekly - not much of these cars raise local eye brows. We are all jaded

Funny - I saw a two door pickup about 2 weeks ago. It was one of those military auction ones. Was in terrible shape. But the retired owner seemed to be having fun smiley

there is a pretty famous gas station owner in la (locals all know him), he has 4 LM002, 2 Benz 600 (60s) and a couple of Grosser Benz. Lets say the gas station is a front business. I saw a G 6x6 there last week ($1.5M street value)

DeLoreans aren't ultra-rare, but you don't see them every day either - unless you know where to look.  This pretty clean example resides in my neighborhood.

You'll need to log in to post.
