The Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge presented by CRC Industries sets the stage for some of the most spectacular budget builds you’ve ever seen. We’re talking 9-second quarter-mile times and cars that could dominate your local autocross, each built on a $2000 budget. And winners get trophies, but not just any trophies: homemade trophies, each made from discarded car parts. These trophies are a staple of the $2000 Challenge, with a different person that’s significant to the event making them each year.
This year Michael Stamps, known as Stampie on our online forum, is building them. He’s a great example of $2000 Challenge spirit and even has a rule named after his creative use of rulebook loopholes (the Stampie Rule).
He’s making great progress on the trophies, as you can see by these sneak peek photos—which are first, second and third place in descending order.

I'm very happy that first place in the challenge knows how to store a crankshaft properly.
I want to win first, but own the second place trophy. Its GORGEOUS.

I'm very happy to not be up top this year, that E36 M3 looks heavy
First place is a Cadillac 500 crank, camshaft, and flexplates. It's heavy as E36 M3.
Second place is the pistons and rods from the same engine on some DOM tuning that was the perfect size.
Third place is aftermarket E36 springs that I bought from Tom last year. He gave me a hard time about low balling him and then ended up getting them back.
It was fun building them and clearing out some of my parts board.
