As is tradition, the Tire Rack Solo National Championship always kicks off the week with Tacos and Talent, our annual kickoff party featuring free tacos, beer and soft drinks and an open mic talent show presented by BFGoodrich Tires, The Lincoln Visitors Bureau and the SCCA.
This year the weather threw us a loop, as the GRM staff was stuck in Florida preparing for the arrival (and eventual last-second dodge) of Hurricane Dorian. But show must go on, so after we called in some favors, we found an able guest host in Shane Donahue, and—as usual—the competitors provided the talent.
The Grassroots Motorsports Tacos and Talent Show, with prizes by BFGoodrich, went off without a hitch thanks to Donahue, and veteran Tacos and Talent performer David “Five Car” Finchum won a set of BFGoodrich tires for his troubles. Finchum's performance was so well-liked that he was even invited back on stage for an encore performance of “Walk” by Pantera.
Here’s his winning performance of “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness.
