Hmm. Two U.S. motorsports sanctioning bodies lose major sponsorships in the course of a week. Last week it was announced that the US Army is leaving NHRA at the end of this season and now this. Canary in a coal mine or just normal churn?
Tequila Patron just announced their decision to depart from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the conclusion of the 2018 season. That includes the sponsorship of the Extreme Speed Motorsports team, whose prototype racing program has brought Tequila Patron wins at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the Twelve Hours of Sebring, and Petit Le Mans. That also means the North American Endurance Championship will no longer be sponsored by Tequila Patron.
Extreme Speed Motorsports has been partnered with Tequila Patron for eight years. Together they have claimed forty podiums and 71 top five finished. Extreme Speed will continue in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and are actively pursuing sponsors to join their program in Tequila Patron’s stead for the 2019 season and beyond.

From what I have read it was not totally unexpected. Ed Brown stopped racing and Patron was sold to Bacardi so the move seemed to fit.

Yup. Also random note, Michelin is going to become the tire sponsor in 2019.
But driving then drinking go very well together. Sad to see them go. Ed Brown and crew were always great in the paddock.
