This Civic is as nimble as it is competitive

In the past weeks, we’ve seen a number of larger, high-power track cars enter in the Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge Presented by Grassroots Motorsports, but Trey Albrecht seems to march to the beat of his own drum.

Instead of competing in a big machine with big power, Trey is opting for a nimbler option: A K24-powered 1994 Honda Civic.

A total of 260 horsepower at the hub might not seem like much, but those ponies only have to motivate 2500 pounds. Couple that with aftermarket coil-overs and a set of sticky Falken RT660 tires, and you get a lightweight corner carver.

Will this fleet-footed formula prove enough to outmaneuver the competition?

What is the Ultimate Track Car Challenge? It’s our annual no-holds-barred track competition that simply seeks the fastest machines on four wheels. The rules are brief: Car and driver must pass a safety inspection. Period.

Pretty much everyone is welcome: New, old, factory-bought and home-built. Wings are cool. So are box flares, giant intercoolers and sequential shifters.
