How fast can you go without spending more than $2000? That’s the question behind our annual Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge Presented by Tire Rack–the automotive festival that celebrates autocross, drag racing and low-buck ingenuity.
It all goes down this weekend, May 27-28, at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Florida.
The real challenge is in the event's name, however, as entries are required to prepare their vehicles for less than $2000. Each of these sub-$2000 cars will compete in autocross and drag racing sessions, followed by concours judging the next day.
For those more interested in seeing if more money really equals more speed, competitors are also welcome to enter cars built or prepared for more than $2000.
Want to scope out the competition or need more time to prepare your entry (don’t worry, we won’t judge)? There’s still plenty for you to experience. Spectators of all ages are welcome throughout the weekend, and our friends at Hagerty will be hosting a free Hagerty Cars & Caffeine on Sunday morning.
There will also be a swap meet, a concours for model cars and even a post-event track day at our official test track, the Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park.
So, what are you waiting for? Click here to register your car or get tickets so you don’t miss out on our biggest and best $2000 Challenge to date. Visit 2000challenge.com for more information.
The Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge is presented by Tire Rack in association with CRC Industries and Miller Electric, with trophies from ACI Automotive & Performance and Trackkrat.
