Where do penny-pinching and extreme speed meet–often with spectacular results? The Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge Presented by Tire Rack.
The event is home to 10-second builds, creative fabrication and lifelong friendships. And this year, it will also be home to some serious prizes.
Tire Rack, the $2000 Challenge’s presenting sponsor, has just pledged $5250 in Tire Rack gift cards for this year’s competitors. Spread across ten awards, this commitment will show Tire Rack’s love for our favorite event of the year.

This intersts me. When I started my datsun replica many years ago, it was planned as a GRM challenge car. I went over budget but kept working on it. Tell us more about the details of how the $2k+ cars competition would work. (Yes, I realize that my car would be too slow to be competetive there, but I can dream.

I'm glad you're interested! Basically we have multiple classes, so your car will run the same events against the under budget cars. Each class is awarded separately, so you'll have all the fun and maybe even take home some tires.
It's great to see the Challenge getting such support!

No, my car is way too slow to be competitive to bring home tires.
I haven't even got reliable down well enough to start worrying about becoming fast.
I'm still intrigued enough that I'm going to be pricing tires for the trailer to see if we can make it up there
This should have some sort of reverse PAX say XAP. The more you spend over $2k the more gets added to your times.
