This is going to be a great one!
The February 2021 edition of the Unofficial GRM Model Contest starts now.
What is the GRM Model Contest? It's a relaxed competition where forum users build a model that matches that month's theme and then share it in the respective thread. The favorite build often receives a kit from the thread's host. For this month's theme, forum user Wally picked the Daytona Speedweeks.
NASCAR stock cars might be the obvious choice here, but there are other options available as well, as Wally explains:
“The obvious choices would be the NASCAR cars running at Daytona but to broaden the appeal we'll include the other cars of Florida's start to the race seasons. Sports cars that would be found at the Rolex 24, and the northern short track racers that flee the cold every year to run the asphalt oval at New Smyrna and the Volusia County dirt track.”
The prize up for grabs this time around is a model of the Ford Torino driven by Richard Petty back in the late '60s.
