WeatherTech Named Official Interior Vehicle Protection Company of Trans Am and SVRA

The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli and the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association announced that WeatherTech is now the “Official Interior Vehicle Protection Company” for both series.

Specifically, the partnerships allow WeatherTech to showcase its product portfolio during SpeedTour weekends—events that include SVRA, Trans Am, FR Americas, Formula 4 and International GT races—as well as Hagerty’s Cars and Caffeine events.

Founder and CEO of WeatherTech David MacNeil highlights that companies based in America and producing products in-house provide “more than just a good-paying job for someone. Every manufacturing job creates up to five other jobs, including the delivery of products, packaging, designing, engineering and so on. Not to mention the communities, and supporting the small businesses of where those workers live every day.”

Owner and CEO of Trans Am and SVRA Tony Parella also added on that “We take a special pleasure in relationships with partners who come to us with a full understanding of the power of motorsports as a marketing and branding platform.”

Southlake, TX (April 14, 2021) – SVRA and The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli announced today an agreement that makes WeatherTech the “Official Interior Vehicle Protection Company” for both premier road racing organizations. For decades, WeatherTech has been committed to manufacturing in the United States and is well-known in motorsports circles.

SVRA and Trans Am are great American racing organizations and have been throughout their histories," said David MacNeil, Founder, and CEO of WeatherTech. "As a business owner, I want to create high-quality products designed, engineered, and manufactured right here in America, built by American workers. WeatherTech's corporate headquarters is in Bolingbrook, Ill., where all the manufacturing happens and is home to R&D, engineering, product design, tool manufacture, marketing, order fulfillment, and shipping. Car interior products are sold under the WeatherTech brand and provided to many automobile manufacturers as an Original Equipment Supplier, enabling WeatherTech to garner not just appeal in the U.S. but also worldwide as products are exported overseas.

The agreement enables WeatherTech to showcase its brand in the context of SpeedTour weekends. SpeedTour includes SVRA and Trans Am and SCCA Pro's FRA and Formula 4 open-wheel series and IGT contemporary sports car racing. There are also Hagerty Insurance “cars and caffeine” car shows and other activities that together create a speed festival environment.

How is this actually news?  And “Official Interior Vehicle Protection Company”. Really?  For some reason that made me laugh like it is some kind of important title or something.  Are they going to use there floor mats in the race cars?  The whole thing struck me as silly. 
 

Wait.  Is trans am now under the NASCAR  umbrella where there is an official everything?  That would explain some of this. 
 

I also see this as and advertisement of an advertisement for an opportunity to advertise.

The CEO could just be shoving the money in his pocket. Good on him for investing it in something he believes in supporting. 

I don't mind helping him out. These just went in the Ridgeline.

I don't mind the product. It is probably the best out there.  It is the post it's self that made my kind of be like "Really".   Ya I am weird sometimes.

I wonder what interior protection products they'll be putting inside competition race cars lol.

(side note: I have weathertech mats in several of my cars, top notch. I do, however, sometimes feel like maybe I'm overpaying for them when I see them put 20-page advertising spreads in GRM and sponsor race series.)
