Why not bring a ’69 Lincoln Continental to a track day?

One of the best things about track days? Sometimes you never know what will show up–like this 1969 Lincoln Continental owned by Grassroots Motorsports forum user MFE.

So why bring an old-school American land yacht to a track day? We’ll let MFE explain:

I'm usually driving my Mustang at these kinds of events, but I opted out this time.  However, I live close by the track in question, formerly known as the Bondurant racing school track.  My car has a Proper Attire theme, so I threw on a tux, headed up there, and rolled up to grid with my helmet on, getting a good chuckle out of the Grid Chief and his crew.  During the lunch break I did some laps so the photographers could grab some pics and I think the b/w one here is pretty epic.

What’s the most unusual car you’ve seen–or brought–to a track day?

A tractor trailer showed up at one of our track events and disgorged a large quatitiy of vehicles.  There were a couple of Legend cars that even my Miata could pass on the straight.  The most unusual was an open wheeler that was supposed to be a 73 AAR Eagle with a Chevy small block in it.  It didn't look like the 73, but the owner said it had been rebodied a bunch of time.  He was getting wheel spin 1/2 down the straight, and it had a glorious sound.
