So, Evo or WRX?

Do you keep this 1998 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V stock or do you add more?
It’s relatively a blank canvas, with the only stated mods being an Exedy clutch, a Blitz radiator and a GFB blow-off valve, although there seems to be a few more by the looks of the photos.
The Evo also has only 68,000 miles.
Find this 1998 Mitsubishi lancer evolution v for sale in Summit, New Jersey, on Facebook Marketplace, with an asking price of $36,000. The seller is also open to trades.
Little nugget they quit having the EVO vs WRX shootouts because the WRXs were getting mopped.
Evo if you wanna go fast, WRX if you wanna vape.

It was funny/sad how for years at the SCCA RallyCross National Championship, there would be two Evos entered and between them they would win all three AWD classes against a sea of mostly Subarus. (The car that would win Modified was also the car that won Prepared, with a different driver. Winning Mod with a Prepared legal car.)
One of my friends got so tired of placing second that he sold his STI and bought an Evo X MR.
The GC chassis handles like magic but dat Evo VIII/IX was a monster on course.

I would normally agree with you, but I do have to point out that this year at SCCA Solo Nats, a GD chassis (2006) STi managed to take the top spot in STU over the runner up Evo's:

Now, there's no telling how many of the ring lands and head gaskets were destroyed chasing this trophy, but it did in fact happen.
I'd put a stock metal Evo 9 bov on it and recirc it back into the intake and then drive it as is. I agree that turning it up and constantly chasing down awd turbo Mitsu parts isn't as fun in 2024 as it was in 2004.
