A successful marketing campaign can have lasting positive effects for many years. For example, just look at Nike’s “Just Do It” or the California Milk Processor Board’s “Got Milk?” campaigns.

Not all campaigns, however, have a happy ending. In fact, some don’t even make it off the ground–that’s where this “7-Up Edition” Fox body Mustang comes in.

After Ford built some 4000 examples of the 7-Up Edition, the planned promotion with the NCAA fell through at the last minute. Ford then took those lemons and made some lemon-lime soda and released them to be sold at dealers.

And that brings us to this 7-Up Mustang for sale, which is noted to have only had two owners from new and shows just 12,142 miles.

Find this 1990 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 7-Up Edition for sale from Auto Barn Classic Cars for $39,995.

A bit of a sleeper among the Fox bodies.

Wait, so what makes this a 7-up edition exactly? I was expecting some red dots or something.

And man that has to be the cleanest 'vert Fox body I've seen in decades.

In reply to CyberEric :

They were originally built for a promotion. My dad had a 7up route and they used to get a catalog of merchandise they could buy to give customers and such. A few of them had a form on the back to order the mustang. I kinda want one now, a few months ago I was in my parents garage and found the 1980s license plates he had on his Cadillac that say 7UP WBM, which are my initials too. They seem like they belong on one of those.

I thought the same thing when I first saw it. A 7-up themed livery would be pretty sick.

It's sort of like the green color of a 7-up bottle?

"You like it, it likes you."  When I was a little boy, my mother would give me some 7-up when I had an upset stomach.

Should have put a 7l motor in it. Say a 427?

My cousin won one of these back in the day.  I stopped to visit her on my way back to my Naval base in VA & she popped the hood "you car guys want to see the engine right?"

Also a recent photo from my stepmom of my dad's old car seems relevant.
