The Roltek transmission that’s going into our 1965 Mustang vintage race project is Chevrolet-based, not Ford. So before we could mount the Energy Suspension transmission mount that we sourced from Cobra Automotive, we would need to modify our crossmember to fit the Chevy-style mount.

The first thing we did is cut the emergency cable mounting tab from the transmission mount. It wasn’t going to be used and would just be in our way.

Next, we welded shut the Ford-style mounting holes and then ground the mount smooth. At that point, we could drill new Chevy-style holes into the mount. We then painted the mount with Eastwood Chassis Black paint, and we were ready to go.

Nice.  Is it worth it to box that cross member?

I did a similar but slightly more involved mod when I put a T5 into my 1964 Dart.

I don' much see the benefit of boxing the trans member - Possibly if Drag racing on sticky Tires.

I guess I am over thinking this.  When the engine is solidly mounted it would be difficult to twist the transmission cross member.
