When we first bought our LeGrand, its aluminum dashboard had a rather ugly faux carbon fiber decal. We removed it, polished up the underlying aluminum, and remounted the gauges. We reinstalled the three 2 1/16-inch VDO gauges using Seals-It gauge isolators. The isolators offer a quick and easy way to mount gauges in a metal panel.
While we had the metal polish out, we also spruced up the seating area. We then remounted the bulkhead that forms part of the seat, moving it over to more firmly hold our driver in place. Next, we polished the aluminum tub some more.
A new steering wheel wrapped up this phase of the project. Grant now makes really nice leather-wrapped wheels for racing and formula cars. Our wheel had to be drilled to mount on the steering column, but that was a pretty easy task.
