The engine bay has been repainted with POR-15 gray paint.
The engine is now in for good—we hope.
Despite the massive power difference, the ZX10R is a smaller engine than the old KZ.
We are using the bike harness, but we have to extend quite a few wires to reach the dashboard area.
We had the original oil cooler remade as a radiator by Ron Davis Radiator. The result is a work of art.
Our multipiece header came back to us from Swain looking really good.
The Swain White Lightning finish looks good and works well.
We’ve been hard at work on the engine swap in our LeGrand sports racer, and we’re almost done. We finished up the header modifications and engine mounts, painted the new portions of the frame, and installed the engine.
Once the engine was in for good, we could concentrate on wiring and plumbing; we used a combination of Aeroquip lines, oil cooler fittings and filter fittings from BAT, Inc. Water cooling is now handled by a new Ron Davis Radiator that fits where the old oil cooler was; the unit is a work of art. We used a Moroso expansion tank as the highest point in the cooling system and as a fill point.
The header is now back from Swain Tech Coatings and looks beautiful. The White Lightning ceramic coating gives the cobbled header a nice, uniform finish; protects the steel; and thermally insulates the exhaust flow.
We are just about ready for the Dixie National Tour, which is coming up in a few short weeks in Georgia.
