Our work is nearly done as we roll the car out into the sunlight for a fresh coat of wax.
One of our jobs was to redo the front splitter so that it attaches to the chassis instead of the body.
We gave the Keizers a fresh polish and some paint for the centers.
We installed a Burns 2-stage muffler in place of an older Coastal Fab unit. This should help us stay under the 100 dB National Solo limits.

Since our last autocross in early October, we’ve been hard at work getting our LeGrand ready for display at the PRI show. Our work has included restoring the front half of the chassis as well as redoing the master cylinders and front body mounts. We also reworked the rear wing and the dash cluster. Of course, all of that work would be for naught without some snazzy wheels, so we’ve been polishing our three-piece Keizers. We even gave the magnesium centers a light coat of dark anthracite paint. The result is a nearly new-looking 35-year-old race car.

Other improvements include swapping out the older Coastal Fabrication aluminum muffler for a Burns 2-stage piece that should help us stay under the 100 dB limit at Nationals. We hit 98 dB at this year’s Nats—and that’s too close for comfort. We moved the muffler so that it’s all on the left side of our chassis instead of crossing over to the right side. Our aim is to further help our corner weights in any way we can.

Look for our LeGrand on display at the 2010 Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Orlando. We’re booth No. 1314.
