It wasn't much of a surprise: The upright fit perfectly.
Our right axle needs to be 15.5 inches long.
Our left is only going to be 11 13/16 inches long.
The prototype for the new billet aluminum uprights arrived this week. The upright came unanodized and with a sample stub axle so that we could test fit everything.
Since the piece was copied from the original magnesium unit by a professional machinist, it fit perfectly. The piece is symmetrical, so we could test fit it on both sides of the rear suspension.
Our measurements—taken from flange to flange—indicate that our new axles need to be 15 1/2 inches on the right and 11 13/16 inches on the left. The new differential is mounted slightly to the left in the chassis—this is due to packaging, but it will also help our corner weights.
Fast Forward Racing Components will be handling the axles as well, and we should be seeing them within a few weeks.

the control arms are also fairly short, probably causes some pretty interesting camber curves.... at least the uprights are nicely built!
Actually, the suspension and its camber control is pretty darn good with great roll centers—especially for having been built prior to computers/suspension design software. Through its whole range (full droop to full compression) it only gains/looses about a degree. It, however, only operates in a very narrow window of that range.
