Ramps and Winging It

Our LeGrand almost floats onto the trailer thanks to the Race Ramps two-piece ramps.

We're experimenting with an APR element. These end plates aren't final—we just used some scrap. We'll eventually replace it with fresh .090 aluminum.

This is the finished wing with different end plates.

Now that our LeGrand is back on the ground and ready to race, we got a chance to try out our Brute Industries Race Ramps. The ramps were custom made to allow our super-low car to safely roll onto the trailer; they also saved us from resorting to rear wheel ramps for our tow vehicle. They work great.

Next on our agenda: Use an inexpensive APR 7.5-inch wing element from Ciro Design. We’ll be using it as a secondary element for our LeGrand’s fabricated aluminum wing. The original wing—made by previous owner Soter Slomski—appears to be a modified, highly cambered NACA design. The APR element will add even more downforce to the package, providing extra rear grip at speed—hopefully with a minimum of drag.

A few months ago. Have since switched tow vehicles so won't get any before/after data....doh.

Love the ramps!! How much did they run you if you don't mind me asking?

The car looks AWESOME! I really need to get me one of those ;-)
