We visited our local salvage yard and grabbed (ok, unbolted, dragged and paid for) a rear axle from a 1982 Saab 900 Turbo. The rear shock mounts are different on the 900 (better, less exposed, stronger) and the axle itself is about 1/8-inch thicker. As soon as we get some 900-style rear shocks, we’ll be bolting this puppy onto our 99.
Note how much room there is in a 99 when the rear seats are flipped down. It’s a little pickup truck!
