We painted this one John Deere green as well.

This little doohickey is the factory water pump. It's not going back in our engine.

We had to install a freeze plug in our block to cap off the area where the water pump would normally sit.

The MGB tensioner works its magic on a new timing chain.

The engine went in on Saturday without any major issues.

We recently built an engine block for our Saab project. Unfortunately, the machine shop deemed it unusable due to a water pump failure. We wound up cleaning and boring our spare block to fit the high-compression Pinto pistons. The entire assembly is slowly coming together.

We’re going to do away with the problematic in-block water pump and go with an external electric water pump from Moroso.

We used a new chain tensioner from an MGB, which was cheaper and readily available. The Saab pieces have long been NLA and were expensive when they could be found. The MGB tensioner was less than $30 shipped from Moss.

Any updates on the Rally Saab? It's my favorite project car right now. I see in the latest issue you were hoping to make the SandBlast rally, but you don't show in the results.

There's an update in the works, but you may be disappointed, as it's pretty much that the project is finished.
