When we're out on track, it'll help to be able to communicate problems to the crew.
Perhaps it’s time that we progress beyond pitboards and chalk. Before our big Daytona event we’re going to install Speedcom radios. Speedcom is a national outfit that specializes in motorsports communications—and they happen to be located just a few minutes from our office.
Company founder Toto Lassally is going to personally show us what’s involved in installing and setting up a radio system, including the details of FCC compliance. Think radios are too expensive or too complicated for your effort? Toto says that a proper system will survive the rigors of motorsports and offer years of service. A “real” system also comes with after-the-sale support; in Speedcom’s case, we often see them at the track.
This comes just in time: Our big ChumpCar race at Daytona is just one short week away, and we have a lot of issues to sort before then.
