Under bright and sunny Central Florida skies, our little Civic did well at today’s Martin Sports Car Club’s May autocross event. Body roll didn’t seem so bad from inside the car, athlough there was some push—right now the car just has the front bar, and we need to get the rear one on asap. The car also hooked up much better than before, so that you Koni for that. As expected, the car did bounce around a bit. Once we identified the bumpier parts of the course, we just altered our line.
We started the day with all four shocks on full soft and 35psi (cold) all the way around. To combat the push, we added 4psi to the rear tires after our second run, making them 42 psi hot. The extra pressure seemed to help a bit with turn-in, although the car would push a bit on corner exit. We still have some tuning to do.
Still, we finished the day with the win in the Street Touring class. (Just don’t tell anyone that we were the only car in the class, okay?)
Once the results are posted, we’ll see how our times compare against some regulars. We also need to take the car back to Ocala Gran Prix, so that’s also on our to-do list.
