We dove into the Miata yet again.
The culprit? A bad ignition coil, exposed through a few simple tests with the multimeter.
During our Sunshine Yellow 1992 Mazda Miata‘s last test day at The FIRM, the car developed a terrible misfire. Before we can race at Sebring, we need to get it running correctly.
The culprit was easily found with a few minutes, a service manual, and a multimeter: a bad ignition coil pack. We ordered a few used ones from Flyin’ Miata, and we’re pretty sure they will fix our problem.
Next, we need to head back to the track to make sure everything is okay. We planned to attend The FIRM’s‘s next open track day. We couldn’t make it because we developed more misfires, but if you’ve got a crapcan racer that needs a shakedown, the FIRM has a special deal for you: $500 gets your car and 4 drivers on track for a full day of testing.
