Thanks to a fresh fuel tank, our Miata now feels much better.
Swapping out the fuel filter and coil packs while trackside didn’t help us. Were we still dealing with the lingering effects of that long slumber?
When we originally brought our Sunburst Yellow 1992 Mazda Miata back from the dead, we thoroughly cleaned the fuel system: fresh fuel filter, fresh injectors and a rinse of the tank. During our first track outing, though, the engine lost power when under load. Swapping out the fuel filter and coil packs while trackside didn’t help us. Were we still dealing with the lingering effects of that long slumber?
We ordered a fresh fuel tank from Flyin’ Miata and spent an evening installing it.
To see if things were now right, we towed the car up to the FIRM for a low-key test day. Success! The Miata clicked off lap after lap without any hiccups or problems.
What’s next? Well, in order to do some ChumpCar endurance racing, we need to install a full roll cage. Hello, MiataCage?

Oh i like this car very much.Yellow color is my favorite.It looks very beautiful.
That's interesting... I had a 94 that would do the same thing cornering with low fuel. Replaced the pump, filter, etc and nothing ever fixed it... Wonder what happens with the tanks to cause that?
