This past Sunday we ran our Cooper Project car in full Solo II Nationals livery at the Jekyll Island SCCA Buccaneer Region Solo II. Thanks to the MINI’s great handling we managed to eke out a tough HS victory against the Mazda Protege that beat us a month ago at the Divisional. This win should be enough to secure a Buccaneer Region year-end points championship for GRM and MINI USA.
Our co-driver, Mike King, was the fastest in Street Mod and the fastest car at the whole event in the H Stock MINI!. We also had a third driver, event chairman Karl Rikert, who finished second in Street Mod.
After drving 2000 miles to the SOLO II Nationals, racing, and then driving 2000 miles home, the MINI was right back out the next weekend with three different drivers wailing away. This is quite a testament to the MINI’s durability.
