We've been living with the Mini Mania exhaust for several months now. It has given our little MINI a nice growl around town. Would it make more than sound on the dyno?
The Helix system was built very similiarly to the MiniMania exhaust, not a bad thing--would the horsepower be the same?
The Supersprint exhaust utilizes the stock system's center pipe and resonator, would this handicap its numbers?
The Rogue exhaust was very racey looking, would it match its looks with performance?
We also tried some Admax 5W-30 oil, now that our MINI's engine is broken in.
The Mini Mania air filter, on the left, uses oiled foam to filter with. The stock, on the right, uses a paper element.
We just completed an extensive round of dyno testing on our MINI. We are trying to get the maximum legal horsepower for SCCA’s H Stock autocross class. We don’t want to leave anything on the table when we head for Topeka for the Solo II Nationals in September.
We tested the following things: Admax synthetic oil, Mini Mania drop-in air filter element, Nology spark plug wires, Magnecor spark plug wires, Mini Mania exhaust, Rogue Engineering exhaust, Helix exhaust and a Supersprint exhaust. Full results will be published in the December 2002 issue.
