Cobb's econ tune might net you a couple of MPG's, but it limits boost quite a bit. You might want to pack the AP for your trip in case you want to switch back. Just sayin.
Canoeing!
Now that it's well sorted and we're going for a long road trip, we've reflashed the computer with our Cobb
Our engine is freshly rebuilt and, thanks to our 2000-mile trip to Hyperfest, completely broken in. (See all the details on our trip to Hyperfest in an upcoming issue of Grassroots Motorsports magazine). We had a few issues to sort here and there—a boost signal leak led to some occasional boost oscillations—but outside of these little tweaks, the car has been problem-free. What does this mean?
It means it’s time to treat it like the all-wheel-drive fun-wagon that it is. We’re going canoeing. We’re going on road trips. In short: We’re having a good time.
In prepping for a road trip, we pulled out the Cobb Accessport. Right after the engine rebuild, we flashed the computer back to the stock Subaru tune. We figured we didn’t want to beat up on it too hard during break-in. Now, it’s ready for its first tune, but it’s not what you’d think. We’re installing the economy tune, which should net us a few more MPGs for the few thousand miles we’re be traversing this week.
