Our project SVT Focus has seen quite a bit of mud and dust over the past couple years. We decided to take it to a local autocross at Daytona International Speedway as part of a staff get-together. Unfortunately, all that off-road use seemed to rear its ugly head with the worst timing. During our first run, the car was noticeably weak, so we brought it back to our paddock space only to find that the alternator had failed. Without a unit at hand we simply had to table the autocross runs for another day. After some runs in other staff cars we loaded the focus on the trailer and headed for the garage to replace the alternator.
