We’ve been using our 2007 Porsche 997 Carrera for local events, too, and recently took it to a Kaffeeklatch held by our local Porsche Club of America group. While a bit lower-key than a track day or week-long tour, we wanted to check out this informal gathering of club members and show off our new toy.
A quick, moving band of rain Sunday morning slowed things down a bit, but by 9:30 the clouds were gone and about 20 cars, ranging from an early 914 to late-model 911s, showed up.
After a hearty breakfast of steak and eggs at Jason’s Corner restaurant on quaint Canal Street in New Smyrna Beach, we wandered out and met people and talked Porsches.
After an hour of chit-chat, cars started to disperse, and we headed out for a leisurely ride home. Margie Suddard drove home and declare the 997 the best car we have ever played with.
