We’re going to be testing the advantages of the factory 16x6.5-inch wheels and available R-compounds vs the optional factory size of 17x7 inches. SCCA’s rules allow for any wheel that matches the factory dimensions (thus 16x6.5 or 17x7 are legal) with an offset that is within 1/4-inch of the factory amount. The factory offset is 48mm for the 17x7, which means that we can run the offset as low as 42mm.
We chose these Enkei RPF1s with a 43mm offset because they weigh just 14.3 pounds. That’s featherweight for a rim of this size. They are also pretty reasonably priced at $237 per wheel through The Tire Rack
We’ll be using some sort of 225mm wide tire on this rim to get a larger footprint.
