Autocrossing: where you stand in the sun all day in exchange for 4 minutes of track time–and love every minute.

We weren't sure what class to run in, so we winged it. Turns out the M235i is in F Street.

Poor rear tires–we've already turned them bald.

Florida has a lot of old runways, and they frequently serve as autocross venues. The result: long, fast courses.

We hadn’t driven our M235i on track since we picked it up, so we were antsy to get the rear tires spinning again. Thankfully, the SCCA’s Central Florida Region regularly puts on autocrosses less than an hour away from us.

So, we signed up and showed up. It was a blast, and we were even fairly quick. Out of 80 cars, ours placed 26th in raw time and 15th in PAX. We weren’t sure what class to run in since the M235i is so new, so we settled on the X class. Next time we’ll be running in F Street.

In other news, the car now has almost 7000 miles on it. It’s time for an oil change and new tires–then more time on track.

I was there the same day, and the Bimmer looked good on course. Fifth fastest overall in the Silver Bullet.
