Imagine that instead of having to drive all the way to the service center and wait for tires to get mounted while trying to enjoy the free coffee that’s likely been sitting out all day, the tire shop could come to you and replace your car’s tires from the comfort of your own home.

Well, you can stop imagining because Tire Rack now offers mobile tire installation that will come to you. How does it work? It’s simple: a van carrying your new tires, service equipment and a technician shows up to wherever your car is located. The tech then removes your wheels, professionally mounts and balances your new rubber, and reinstalls the wheels while hand-torquing the lugs.

Sound too good to be true? We tested the service out for ourselves after our Ridgeline needed new tires.

You can read more about the whole process here or watch the video below, but the summary is that we found it hard to find any downsides that offset all the upsides of Tire Rack’s Mobile Installation–namely the convenience and reasonable price of the service.

A new set of Continental TerrainContact H/T tires mounted, our Ridgeline was ready to hit the road once again.
