I love model cars, especially of unloved models. Terrific work
1/24 Scale Model of a 1966 Rambler American “junker”. My first job was working in an all-AMC wrecking yard and I built this model to commemorate that. It’s an old JoHan kit of a 69 SC/Rambler backdated to a 66 American with the 232 I-6. Build: “Junker” Paint: Faded white with dents, smashes, and lots of rust Interior: Full of junk, dirt, and parts to other cars Wheels: Mismatched Halibrands, busted on purpose Decals: None Drivetrain: 232 I-6, NO trans (engine and driveshaft are hanging in midair, I even made the engine look like somebody started to take it out and then gave up) Details: Lots of rust, cracked windshield Build Time: 5 Hours Build Year: 1999
American Performance Products in Cocoa, FL. My grandfather founded it in the 70's and sold it off in the early 90's IIRC. He was featured on an Autoweek TV show once with his original 68 AMX 390 4-Speed and the business. They did the filming at the Space Center when the Saturn V used to be laying down outside at the rocket farm. I have it on VHS, and I think DVD somewhere. I should post that up.
The windshield needs some shmutz on it and at least on tire needs to be flat. Still got my vote though.
