A previous owner had gotten the top third of the car repainted…poorly. I eventually figured out that the original clearcoat must have failed, and was “fixed” from that pinstripe, up to the roof. Shoddy masking, plenty of overspray, and poor adhesion. I guess I knew this when I bought the car, and I bought it anyway, on emotion.
