Engine decisions

Hmm…getting to 440rwhp is going to be more costly than I realized. The quote from Rollins was ~$3500 to get there, $1500 of which is to port/polish the stock 241 heads I have.

So…I may be going with a “cam-only” set up, which is a little bit of a misnomer, since there are several other “while you’re in there” items that should be done. Doing that should put the motor in the 375rwhp neighborhood, which, frankly, is plenty for my meager driving skills. I think the car is going to be traction limited even at that number.

Another option to the port/polish work on the stock heads is to bolt on a set of LS6 heads. Evidently, even bone stock LS6 heads (243 casting) breathe much better. They seem to go for about $500 used, which sounds much better than $1500 right now.

I’m in the process of doing some research on the parts/options for the new direction, given that my LSx knowledge is still limited. Anyone out there have some used LSx parts to sell??
