Volvo saw fit to include small mercury-switched lights for hood and trunk. When switched on, they light up when the decklid/hood are opened. And they can be switched off so that they don’t light at all. I swapped the bulbs out for a 8-LED bulbs and added a 20-LED strip. I ran the wiring through the decklid/hood reinforcing structures so you can’t see it. And the added strips are tied into the switches - so the strips work just like the factory lights. Pics are in a dark garage with no flash. PLENTY of light at both ends now.
